It’s something physical that commemorates the completion of an intangible business transaction. Mergers, acquisitions, issuing shares and raising capital may be the building blocks of business but you cannot touch or see them so we create something real to remember each deal by and the people and stories that were involved. Call them deal tombstones, financial tombstones, lucite (acrylic) tombstones or deal toys, they are essentially all the same thing.
Lucite is a type of acrylic that is translucent and can be molded into different shapes. It is the only material in which you can embed an object. Crystal is a type of glass with a high degree of transparency. We can supply shaped crystal blocks with 3D etched images inside. Whilst crystal is heavier than acrylic, it is not as versatile in that acrylic can be shaped, coloured and, unlike glass, it is virtually unbreakable.
To create the deal tombstones, Lucite/Acrylic is baked at a very high temperature in pressurised ovens and so any items made from plastic, paper etc would not survive the process. However, metal models, computer chips, precious stones, coins, carbon fibre and other ‘hard’ items are frequently embedded. If you want us to embed something that we have not tried before then we would carry out tests ensure it will work and not damage your object.
Not at all, whilst we certainly welcome any design ideas your team has, we will create layout options that are relevant to the deal or event for you.
Depending on what is involved the costs for deal tombstones can vary greatly. Size, shape, colour, printing method, quantity etc can all have a bearing on price. We would always ask if you have a budget and work with that and if you don’t have one then we would provide at least three designs of varying complexity and cost.
We aim to come back to you with design ideas within 48 hours. Once a design is chosen and costs have been approved we would normally produce a prototype in around 10 working days and then the balance of the order in a further 10 working days. So, 5-6 weeks from start to finish assuming there are no major changes needed on the prototype.
No, there is no minimum order quantity. We have produced orders with anywhere from 1 to 10,000 units!
Indeed we do as our clients are based all over the globe. We have production facilities in the UK, Canada and China so we have the capacity to supply anyone, anywhere.
Don’t worry if you answer ‘no’ to any of those questions then we can work around it. If you have any other questions please get in touch and we will be happy to help!
